Hi all, I'm back from LTF camp and it was an eventful and fruitful camp. Although it did not start on a good note for me, I was and still am glad that it ended right. I met Joel Goh and we cabbed down to church for LTF camp. In case you do not know wads LTF, its Lively Teens Fellowship. Joel is one of the most irritating person I've known as he likes to bug people down with questions. Sometimes I find him rather eccentric too but lets not stray too far from the main point.
Day 1: After I paid up the camp fees and I was instantly surrounded by church brethren whom lead me to my dormitory. I found out that I was in G&H room 1 and there was some miscommunication between the Lim brothers and it was however resolved. At first, my dorm-mates look kinda scary and unapproachable but the impression soon changed. The assistant camp commandant, ex-LTF chairperson. I thought I was gonna to have to endure the boring dorm devotions at night. Later, Joshua Lim and Ryan Tay and David soon came to church and after we off-loaded out baggage to our bunks we made our way to the CS hall and we were briefed about the camp. Being the type that does not bother about this kinda briefing, I was out there personalizing my camp booklet. Later, I found out that Ryan and Joshua (shall not add surnames anymore cause it sounds really like Long Zhao) were in my games group. The other members were Bryan (Bob's brother), Hui Xian the "irritating pop-corn", Jamie (James's sister), Sandy (Tab Lee's friend). We had a load of good fun together and we all shared our joy and laughter however this was to be short-lived. We forged bonds quickly and I felt really part of the group like all the other members. Although we were abit more rowdy than the rest, we still completed the task and most IMPORTANTLY, we had FUN. After lunch, we had siesta and after 1 hr of siesta we all changed into appropriate attire to go for the first message of the camp by Rev. Jack Sin(our camp speaker). Through the times in LTF, I always enjoyed his messages as it was edifying and it could cater to the needs of the older age group and the younger age group. The lessons were always fun and exciting and you looked forward to go to his messages. The message was pretty good and FYI we were walking through the book of 1st John through the 5 day 4 night camp. After message, had discussion with my discussion group. Joshua Chia, my CG leader in LTF, was the group leader and Ryan was the assistant. It has been since I dont know when, that everytime there is a church camp, Ryan and I would end up in the same group. I thank God that I got into Joshua's group because I would have been bored to tears or not being able to adapt to a different style of discussions. After message, we had a time for games and our games group bonded more and we felt closer to one another and we were able to share freely. After dinner, we had a workshop by Aunty Poh Yoke and she talked about the importance of fellowship and I managed to learn alot from her workshop and this changed some of the bad impression of her. We were asked to make something out of the Angel Clay given and our group mixed all the clay and we managed to form a dirty green coloured elephant which I thought was the best amongst the rest although we had a stiff competition with the colourful sheep. After that went for supper and then dorm devotion. It turned out that my dorm-mates were open, caring and mature christians who could help build up our faith. Although it took 1 day, we managed to start opening up to each other and I planned resolutions for the camp.
Day 2: Woke up pretty early at around 330 am not because the aircon was too cold. The temperature was set to just nice but the floor we slept on was HARDER than HARD. I woke up with some sore bones and I realised that Shawn wasn't sleeping and I talked to him outside the room and we could hear our nightwatch men talking so loudly. At around like 630, slept for another 1 hr and then washed up and got down to do devotion and spent time with the LORD. Joshua Lim (This is a special case because there were 3 Joshua s in the camp that it is inevitable not to include the surname)was asking or rather interrogating us in a funny way on what we had learnt through QT, now this is wad I call true fellowship. Then after devotions by Pr Quek we had our 2nd message and it was indeed as promised, edifying and well prepared. After lunch, thats where the part of the camp started going downhill. After lunch LZ came to inform me that I had to change groups to Joshua Chia's group. I told him firmly that I would not and I was terribly shocked and surprised that they were actually Christians! The method they used or should I add the word unscrupulous? to get me to change group really reinforced the point of the PAP in the LTF. I was issued an ultimatum! Cool ah! An ultimatum just because you dont want to change groups. After much persuasion, I went over to JC's group but I sat there with a black face and stoned for the rest of the time. *(Note to JC: Its not that I did not want to go over, its just that I cannot take the fact that I was given rubbish reasons to change group and its not a choice I could make but I was coerced into doing!) After games, there was caroling practice and Joshua Lim talked to me and comforted me with Ryan. After that went for prayer meeting and it was good and cool to be able to pray for your own church. After that went for Dorm Devotion and then went to sleep. Haha, we were playing Angel and Mortal and Caritas the curry puff nearly screwed up my game...
Day 3: Woke up, did my QT and then went down to the dining area and fellowshipped with the people around there. I planned with Caritus, Hui Xian and SC how to trick JC into thinking Im not his angel.. Lol so I decided to get girls to write my letters and get the girls to pass him the letters and "drop hints". How did curry puff screw up my game? JC gave her a cup of milo and told her to pass it to his Angel. He was watching her movement and then Caritas came up to me and said, Hey your mortal pass u this cup of milo. Then I strategically passed the cup to another person. Lucky it worked and for the next few days XD. Had another message and then the discussion was great and then had lunch. We mixed around and the WP did not stay together as we decided since the PAP wanted to move us around, we'll start spreading the "love", We had a workshop by Aunty Poh Yoke on bullying and had caroling practice before that. Dinner and then we had another message. My Mortal, JC was sick and was sent home. Ryan took over and I must say he was quite good for a first timer and given that he is not those kinda people who can give speeches it was by God's grace that he managed the group. Had Dorm Devotion for the last time and we decided to make the most about it and we were all open and we shared alot of things till past midnight. Then I followed David to talk to LZ and then we went to talk to Mark. However, as I wanted to talk to Mark alone, I started walking around the church compound and LZ came up to me and wanted to talk to me about the change of groups. Talked awhile and then went to talk to Mark and after that it was around 330 in the morning. Went back up to get some sleep but it was futile so I started mulling over what Mark said and then it was so early into the day already before I knew it.
Day 4: Went to do QT and then helped out in arranging the tables. After breakfast, we had the last message. Mark took over the discussions and my Mortal came back. Damn crazy lar he, lol. Sick dont want to sleep. I'll get to the better part later. During lunch we talked alot and the WP was together again. Looks like their plan failed lar, I guess. Then had caroling practice while the games com setted up the games. During games, our group passed most of the test and we had quite a fun one with Ernest's station. Matthew had trouble walking straight and i dont know if he was drunk or what but he kept stepping on the water bombs and Ernest threathened to bomb us each time we stepped on the water bomb. So Matthew accidentally stepped on one and Ernest carried out his threat and to his horror, Matthew started purposely stepping on all the other water bombs by walking in a zigzag direction and using much force in each step.. Lol. Then we had water bomb war. Then our group was like owning and I managed to bomb Long Zhao and he did not notice it lar. So later i was massacred by the whole games com and LZ thought he first blooded me. Hehe. Then after games, John Law tried to go into a rage and turn crazy but little did he know that I would explode and he tried to fight with me and he was pulled away. Then the most amazing part happened. Aunty Poh Yoke came up to me and said: " You've been a good testimony this game and dont let this thing get into you." This started to get me thinking. Was she really as bad as I thought? Was she really that biased? After that, I got the whole lot og them away so the camp com could take a picture. After that, Luther Gid and Tim talked to me about the John incident. Then wanted to go up and bathe but the toilets were full. Went down to the party wet. We had barbecue and here is the best part. JC's mom came and told him to eat a whole Tupperware of vegs. After that he started spamming chicken, otah, beef and all those kinda food you shouldnt eat when you are sick lar. Lol. Then guess what? He threw up and felt sick again. I was teasing him lar and he found out I was his angel after I told him. Then went up to bath and then we had a special night programme. Lots of encouraging testimonies and the commandant nearly cried. Had a slide show and then we all became nocturnal animals.
Day 5: Had cleanup, closure and stuff and then we went to clean up all the dorms and I took Natty home. Came home, unpacked, washed all the clothes and then came on9 for awhile and then slept for like 19 1/2 hours. Lol Yeah thank God for the camp and the spiritual revival. XD
